On June 27-28 the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore and Vilnius University organize an international conference „Times and Places of Czeslaw Milosz“. The one hundredth anniversary of the Nobel Prize winner, alumnus of Vilnius University Czeslaw Milosz (1911-2004) provides an important opportunity to reflect on the influence that this writer and intellectual as well as his creative work bear on the modern consciousness.

Joint Laboratory to be established in Vilnius University [2011-05-18]

On May 18 Prof. B. Juodka, the Rector of Vilnius University , Mr. Ye Yong, Country manager for the Baltic of „Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd“ and Antanas Zabulis, President of „Omnitel“, have signed an agreement concerning the establishment of joint research laboratory at Vilnius University. The laboratory should start its work in autumn.

Awarding degrees of doctor honoris causa [2011-05-06]

On May 10 degrees of Doctor Honoris Causa of Vilnius University will be awarded to professor JURIJ KUZMENKO (Humboldt University of Berlin and Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Linguistics) and to professor ALGIS MICKUNAS (Ohio University, USA) during the celebratory meeting of the University Senate. The ceremony will take place at 15.00 p.m. at the University church of St. Johns’(Entrance from 3 Universiteto St.).
