Awarding degrees of doctor honoris causa [2011-05-06]
On May 10 degrees of Doctor Honoris Causa of Vilnius University will be awarded to professor JURIJ KUZMENKO (Humboldt University of Berlin and Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Linguistics) and to professor ALGIS MICKUNAS (Ohio University, USA) during the celebratory meeting of the University Senate. The ceremony will take place at 15.00 p.m. at the University church of St. Johns’(Entrance from 3 Universiteto St.).
Declaration of three main universities of Baltic countries signed in Tartu [2011-04-27]
On April 21 rectors of Latvia, Tartu and Vilnius universities have signed a joint declaration for reinforced co-operation in Tartu. Building on the achievements of the existing cooperation between the three universities and drawing upon the recognition of their leading role in the national academic and educational life of their respective countries, the signing parties have agreed to strengthen collaboration in joint research projects, joint degree programmes and doctoral schools, join forces in marketing activities, etc.

On April 12 Vilnius University was awarded the WIPO (World Intelectual Property Organization) Award for Innovative Enterprises in recognicion of its active use of the Intelectual property system in research and development.
