European Commision Visit and Presidency Opening Ceremony [2013-07-03]
The key accent and main axis of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU opening ceremony (author of scenario and director Dalius Abaris) is the Sąšauka musical work (composed by Kipras Mašanauskas), using drum beats to represent harmony, agreement and communication. Sąšauka should demonstrate the community of Lithuania and Europe based on musical and visual means. The event includes 28 musical pieces, each presenting an EU Member State (including Croatia that joined the EU on 1 July).

After the announcement of Erasmus international students and staff's exchange statistics for 2010-2011, it turned out that Vilnius University is among 100 the most international universities in Europe. Vilnius University (VU) that has drafted in 117 university teachers was ranked 43rd. In addition, in the students' mobility list was ranked 52nd.

The region’s first Huawei Network Academy and Mobile Apps Laboratory for business opens at Vilnius University [2013-05-22]
Vilnius University Centre of Telecommunications Science is today complemented with two new facilities: the region's only Huawei Network Academy was opened in the Faculty of Physics, with Lithuania's fifth Mobile Apps Laboratory also opening its doors at the centre. The academy will organise training sessions for students as well as business people, and the new Mobile Apps Laboratory will stand out from the earlier ones with its distinctively business-oriented solutions that will germinate there. Some of the first are already in the development stage, even before the laboratory officially opens.
