Arrival days

Students are supposed to arrive 1 or 2 days before the beginning of studies.

Late arrival

If for some reasons you cannot arrive in Vilnius during the above mentioned days, you have to inform International Programmes and Relations Office and your programme coordinator/administrator.

Registration at VU

All international degree students have to register at the International Programmes and Relations Office (IPRO) upon arrival. The registration starts just before the Opening of the Orientation Week (please check the Orientation Week Programme). After registration you will receive the information package.

If you arrive later and/or are not able to register before Opening of the Orientation Week, you should do this at IPRO as soon as possible (please mind the office hours).

Student Card

All international students are supposed to have a Lithuanian Student Card (LSP). You have to apply for it upon arrival. Your main contact person in all LSP matters is your mentor.

Survival Lithuanian Language Course and Orientation Week

Survival Lithuanian Language Course (SLLC) and Orientation Week (OW) are offered at the beginning of studies for all international students for free. There is no preregistration required. During the Orientation Week you can expect guided tour in Vilnius and VU Library, Welcome Party and many other interesting activities which will help you to get acquainted with many Lithuanian and international students.

Visa D/Temporary Residence Permit

All international degree students from non EU/EEA countries coming for studies to Lithuania are required to get visa D. The decision on the issue of visa D is usually made within 10 days after the receipt of application. Visa D allows students to travel via Schengen area countries 3 months in each period of 6 months.

Students will apply for temporary residence permit to live in Lithuania after first semester spent at Vilnius University. Recognition of foreign Higher Education Qualifications

According to the Lithuanian legislation all foreign applicants have to submit the proofs of their qualifications being recognized in Lithuania. The qualification documents have to be evaluated by the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education in Lithuania (QAC) and recognized by the Ministry of Education.

If you didn’t submit this document with your application documents you are obliged to complete the above mentioned procedure within 5 months after arrival at Vilnius University.
