Guidelines for contributors to Journalism Research
Journalism Research is a periodical publication of scientific articles, which covers research of the communication study field – journalism (activity, works, structure), and knowledge ref lecting the trends and current issues of journalism development (interviews, reviews, surveys, source publications).
The Editorial Board sets forth the following requirements for contributors of manuscripts:
- Particulars of the cover page. Contributors of texts (articles) should submit the following particulars in Lithuanian and English on the left of the first page: workplace, address, position, academic degree, telephone number, e-mail address. When the article is published, the date of submission to the Editorial Board, the title and issue of a publication are specified.
- The structure of an article. An article should consist of 8 parts: particulars of the author (1), the title (2), an abstract in English (3), keywords (4), the main body – the introduction, the subject of a research, the goal, the extent to which the problem has been explored, research methods, results (5), conclusions/discussion (6), bibliographic references (7), at the end – a summary in Lithuanian or in the author’s native language with the title of an article (8).
- Size. Up to 1 author’s sheet (40,000 printing characters). A summary in Lithuanian cannot exceed 2,000 characters. In exceptional cases, the Editorial Board may allow a larger size of an article and a summary.
- Articles are published in English and Lithuanian. A summary of an article in English is published in Lithuanian. If an article is written
in any other foreign language, the decision on publishing is made by the Chairman of the Editorial Board. - A contributor should submit one signed copy of the text and one electronic copy in a computer medium. The basic font – Times New Roman (alternatively, Palemonas and Aistika), font size – 12 pt, line spacing – 1.5 pt. visual information Illustrations should not exceed the size of a standard A4 format; they should be recorded separately, accompanied by a list, indicating their titles and authors (full names).
Reviewing
- Articles are peer-reviewed by 2 scientists (a member of the Editorial Board and an appointed researcher). The manuscripts are not returned. References. Sources and literature are indicated at the end of an article; font size – 10 pt. A reference to a book should be as follows: the author’s surname and the initial of the name in a regular font, the title of a publication in italic (no quotation marks), the place of publishing, a publishing-house, year, volume (part, No.), pages of quoted text in a regular font. A reference to an article should be as follows: the author’s surname is followed by the title of an article in a regular font, a full-stop, the title of a publication and other details in a regular font. The compiler or editor is indicated after the title of a publication (after a full-stop) in a regular font.
- The manuscript title of a work is in a regular font. The title of an archive (a collection of manuscripts) – in italic; abbreviations of funds, inventories, files, numbers, sheets (pages) – in a regular font. The title of a publication, archive, collection of manuscripts may be abbreviated according to the rules, and abbreviations are written in italic. A footnote, which follows a footnote with exhaustive bibliographic particulars of a publication or an archive, may omit some details with an indication ibid. in italic.
