Working Hours of the Library

It is possibile for the members of Vilnius University community to use work spaces in all the reading rooms of the Library (up to two users in a reading room at a time). Registration in advance is required.

Books can be borrowed by the members of Vilnius University community only when requested in advance and are issued in a non-contact way only (book requests should be placed via Virtual Library).

You can take out requested books or return* the books you no longer need during the following hours:
*Please note that you can return borrowed books only at the same place where they were borrowed.

 

Scholarly Communication and Information Centre (SCIC)

Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Rooms

There is no possibility to borrow documents from these collections. However, all users of Vilnius University Library have the possibility to work in Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Rooms (up to two users in a reading room at a time). Registration in advance is required via email:

  • Rare Books Reading Room: e-mail at (your registration is accepted only after receiving a confirmation e-mail from the library staff)
    Opening hours. Monday to Thursday: from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Manuscripts Reading Room: e-mail at (your registration is accepted only after receiving a confirmation e-mail from the library staff)
    Opening hours. Monday to Thursday: from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

We kindly remind you that:

  • You are welcome to use VU Library’s Digital Collections.
  • If you are a member of VU community and a document or its part is necessary for your research, you can contact the Library’s Rare Books Reading Room (via e-mail ) or Manuscripts Reading Room (via e-mail ) about the possibility of digitising it.

You are welcome to use VU Library’s e-resources. If you have any questions, please contact the subject librarian of your faculty.

IMPORTANT: Reservations of individual or group work rooms will not be carried out. Copying and printing services will not be provided.

 

Please take notice of the following when visiting the Library:

  • When in Library, please observe no less than a two-metre distance between yourself and other users of the Library.
  • It is obligatory to wear face masks in the premises of the Library the entire time.
  • Users have to observe the hygiene standards and use disinfection stands. Next to book borrowing locations you will find a disinfection stand. We kindly ask to disinfect hands when you enter the Library. Please disinfect your Library work desk before and after using it.
  • Please observe coughing and sneezing etiquette.
  • Users experiencing the symptoms of the upper respiratory tract infections (fever, cough, difficulty breathing and others) are not allowed in the Library.
