The screening of the film "The Grandchildren of the Cuban Revolution" will take place at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vilnius on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 6 p.m.
This event is yet another joint initiative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lithuania and the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC).
Criticized by most, admired by some, the Cuban regime seems to be still strong enough to hold onto its grip over the Cuban society. But what will follow when the old "icons of revolution" disappear? This year's projection intends to "spread awareness of the struggles of young Cubans on the island, giving them an opportunity to share their hopes, frustrations and concerns/", as the director Carlos Montaner describes young people featured in the film and their desire for change.
The screening will be followed by discussion with a journalist and political scientist Ms Ieva Giedraitytė, Ph.D., an Economic History candidate at the University of Barcelona.
The film will be in Spanish with English subtitles.
