Nature Index (NI) of articles published in the worlds' most prestigious scientific journals has been updated recently. Lithuania is ranked 52 among all countries of the world within the NI. In 2013, compared to 2012, the country has moved up significantly and its' scientific production has increased by 41,7 percent, whereas a significant number of countries demonstrate an opposite – declining tendency.
Although the comparative data is not yet available, it is evident that Lithuanian scientists are increasing their presence in 2014 publications as well.
The fact that 41 out of 50 registered publications from Lithuania is presented by the author or co-author from Vilnius University makes us feel proud in particular.
The distinct leader in NI among the scientists of VU is the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy.
Following the Thomson Reuters Agency, „Nature" is the world's most cited interdisciplinary scientific journal.
The NI is a database of author affiliation information collated from research articles published in an independently selected group of 68 high-quality science journals. The database is compiled by Nature Publishing Group (NPG) in collaboration with Digital Science. The Nature Index provides a close to real-time proxy for high-quality research output at the institutional, national and regional level. The NI is updated every month.
