WHY ECONOMIC ANALYSIS STUDY PROGRAMME AT VILNIUS UNIVERSITY?
The overall objective of the Programme is to train highly qualified and holistic-thinking economists, capable to apply and develop mathematical models and methods for the analysis, forecasting, planning and management of economic processes on both micro and macro levels. However, the aims of the Programme are not limited to the professional training: another important objective is to foster society leaders, self-dependent and creative persons, capable of innovative ideas and leading teams.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent;
- No less than 20 ECTS credits in the fields of economics, management and business administration or othersocial sciences or the acquired analogous practical experience is substantiated in motivation letter andduring the interview;
- For successful start of studies students should be familiar with the basics of economic theory, statistics,econometrics and math (priority will be given to students with more courses and/or higher grades ineconomics);
- English language proficiency – the level not lower than B2 (following the Common European Frameworkof Reference for Languages (CEFR)).
The distinctive feature of competencies rendered by the Programme can be summarized in two words: thoroughness and comprehensiveness, which equip students for successful carriers in the future and facilitate making the crucial links required for the economic sector.Graduates of Economic Analysis programme can work as economic analysts and project managers in largeenterprises, financial institutions (central banks, commercial banks, insurance companies, etc.), audit companies,public administration institutions (ministries, i.e., ministries of finance and economy, departments of statistics, staterevenue services, national audit offices, state social insurance agencies, etc.), market and economic researchagencies and institutes (e.g. “Euromonitor International”), business consultancy firms. The graduates of the Programme tend to find well-paid jobs in the public or private sector already during the study period, while the Programme’s committee often receives job offers addressed to students from various financial intermediaryinstitutions, consulting firms and public administration institutions.
ACCESS TO FURTHER STUDIES
Having attained comprehensive interdisciplinary education, a systematic approach and deep analytical skills,masters of Economic Analysis can pursue higher degrees. Vilnius University created opportunities for studentsinterested in continuing their studies to proceed to doctoral studies, which are also available in English language.A large number of graduates of this Programme have successfully completed doctoral studies in Lithuania andabroad. Some of them have integrated into Lithuanian and foreign academic institutions.
