How to prepare for consultation
IMPORTANT! If your plans have changed, be sure to inform the counsellors.
This can be done either by cancelling the consultation or by sending an email to ask@vu.lt with the subject line "Cancellation of remote consultation" (the email should be sent from the same email address you used to register for the consultation).
How to prepare for a remote consultation
- - Make sure you have specific questions:
When preparing for a consultation, it is very important to ask yourself as many questions as possible in order to clarify the areas that are the most unclear. Think about what you already understand, where you need to clarify and what you are most concerned about. Make a list of these questions.
- See if you can't find the answers on the Vilnius University website and in the FAQ section:
Now that you have a list of questions, check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): are there any answers to your questions?
- The Frequently Asked Questions section on undergraduate and integrated studies can be found here.
- The Frequently Asked Questions section on postgraduate and professional pedagogical studies is available here.
- - Think about whether your question(s) require(s) consultation:
The consultation time is 30 minutes, so think about whether you have enough questions to use the full consultation time. Maybe a phone call or an email would be enough?
- - Be sure to describe your situation and your questions in as much detail as possible and set out your expectations for the consultation:
If you decide that your questions are complex and that you would like a detailed consultation, please describe your questions and other relevant information (cycle of study, course of study, etc.) on the registration form. Think about what you expect from the consultation: Will you get answers to all your questions? To find out about the different options? Or other? Make sure you communicate these expectations to the advisor.
- Mark the date and time of the consultation in your calendar.
- Check your email for information about the consultation.
- Choose a quiet and comfortable place where you will be alone.
- Make sure your video camera, microphone and, most importantly, internet are working properly.
