COST programme IS1312. Structuring Discourse in Multilingual Europe (TextLink). 2013–2017. Assoc. Prof. Dr. S. Juzelėnienė, Assoc. Prof. Dr. R. Baranauskienė, Assoc. Prof. Dr. I. Mickienė, Prof. Dr. S.  Šarkauskienė.

The project aims at unifying linguistic resources on discourse structure and building systems to allow cross-linguistic investigations. In 2017, a Lithuanian research group was involved in developing a multilingual, crosslinguistic corpus of TED talks where transcripts are annotated in the PDTB style. This resource includes annotations on six languages and is intended to be extended to new languages with richer annotations involving aspects of spoken language. A meeting on DRDs Multilingual and Multimodal Challenges was held on 12–14 June 2017.

The project aims at the analysis of the perceptual competence of ordinary members of language community by applying the principles of perceptual dialectology. In 2017, the analytical model within the methodological platform of perceptual methodology was worked out; respondent selection criteria were determined; text-stimuli were prepared for the variant research; the analysis of variant perception was performed in 10 locations; the data of variant perception research was systemically and analytically estimated; several methodological seminars were organised.

A new method of selecting the best e-shop clients, which can be offered the personalised advertising campaign, was proposed. The research is based on real clickstream data of two e-shops.

The healthcare quality was evaluated by taking into account the importance of indicators by applying expert-based AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method and the regression analysis of health statistics. The rankings of the EU countries according to their healthcare investment types and costs were developed and evaluated.

LSTM-based deep neural networks for speaker identification were investigated. The most efficient topologies of LSTM networks were found for this type of deep networks. It has been shown that for all the tested data sets LSTM-based speaker identification outperforms baseline HMM-based speaker identification methods by at least 20%. The average correct speaker identification level with LSTM networks exceeded 98%. The increase of recognition accuracy is between 4 and 7 per cent.

COST action: European Network for Cost Containment and Improved Quality of Health Care, http://www.cost.eu/COST_Actions/ca/CA15222. Management committee members: Prof. Dr. D. Krikščiūnienė, Vilnius University, Lithuania, Prof. Dr. V. Sakalauskas, Vilnius University, Lithuania, Project participant M. Liutvinavičius.

This COST Action aims at supporting the scientific research and technology development necessary for a breakthrough in the field of cost-containment in healthcare while also maintaining the quality of health care. So far, the EU R&D agenda has under-examined this aspect while in nearly every COST Member Country rising costs of healthcare are becoming a major societal problem.

COST Action CA15123: The European Research Network on Types for Programming and Verification (EUTYPES), http://www.cost.eu/COST_Actions/ca/CA15123. Management committee members: Prof. A. Lopata, I. Veitaitė.

Types are pervasive in programming and information technology. A type defines a formal interface between software components, allowing the automatic verification of their connections, and greatly enhancing the robustness and reliability of computations and communications. In rich dependent type theories, full functional specification of a program can be expressed as a type. Type systems have rapidly evolved over the past years, becoming more sophisticated, capturing new aspects of the behaviour of programs and the dynamics of their execution.
