Probably no student can imagine their productive studies without a library. Vilnius University is proud to have the oldest (1570) and the newest (2013) libraries in The Baltics’. All students of Vilnius University may to use the university library. Lithuanian student card is necessary in order to use the library.
At Vilnius University you can use library at different locations:
- Central Library at Old Campus of Vilnius University
- Scholarly Communication and Information Centre (SCIC)
- Libraries of faculties and centers
You will definitely enjoy studying in the new library (SCIC). It is open 24 hours 7 days a week. Working hours may change during holiday periods (public holidays, summer vacation). The library is full of working places equipped with computers, lounge chairs for discussions/ relaxation, silent reading room, reading room for students with children, room for individual work for professors and PhD students.
It is also possible to study in the reading room in the library. As in all libraries the noise level must be kept to a minimum. It is not allowed to eat, drink or smoke in the library. Readers are allowed to bring in personal things only in transparent bags. Coats, jackets, cloaks briefcases, handbags must be left in the cloakroom;
You may use internet in the General Reading Room and Internet Reading Room at Vilnius University Library. Students may also get access to Internet at the computer rooms at each faculty.
The students may find the university book shop “Littera” in the M. K. Sarbievijus courtyard in the Old campus. Alongside the books for leisure, books by university teachers and professors, university souvenirs may be find there. Opening hours: 9.00 - 18.00 from Mondays to Fridays and 10.00-15.00 on Saturdays.
