Sustainable Development Issues, Including Gender Equality Implementation and Gender Equality Measurements. Dr. I. Kiaušienė.

Modern society has to deal with very different challenges, which are fostered by fast processes of globalization, changeable economic state, present economical and social changes, etc. Thus there arises a need to analyze and assess adjustment trends of different and closely related interdependent aims. Equality between women and men is not only an element of human natural rights, but it is also a presumption for the development of harmonious society and an indicator for development. Consequently, one of the most significant aims of the modern society is sufficient attention paid to strengthening of the ways and methods to implement equal opportunities for women and men.

Financial Accounting Policy and Internal Control of Public Sector Entities. Prof. R. Kanapickienė.

One of the aims of internal control of a public legal entity is to ensure the reliability and completeness of information and reports. The main regulatory enactments of accounting determine many instruments of internal control which must be ensured by the accounting policy adopted in a public sector entity. Regulatory enactments cover different spheres, i.e. accounting and internal control. These spheres are closely interrelated. Research systematized the internal control instruments of accounting policy.

Corporate Social Responsibility Information Disclosure in the Financial Reports. Prof. K. Rudžionienė.

Based on sustainable development specifying the disclosure socially, environmentally and financially, financial and non-financial information overlapping in a single report would be appropriate. At present, the world is not created by uniform principles and patterns that help to integrate non-financial information in the financial records. Integrated Report is still in the experimental stage although the first steps have already been done, therefore, an integrated reporting model including financial and non-financial information was developed.

The Concepts, Classification and Evaluation Methods of Intellectual Capital . PhD student A. Ramanauskaitė, Prof. K. Rudžionienė.

The present research suggests generalized definitions, reveals the key features and highlights the interrelationship of these terms, thus, enabling further research. It generalizes the methods of intellectual capital valuation, suggested by a number of scholars, provides comparisons, reveals the multiplicity of the methods, and highlights the unlimited research of the academic field. Besides, the main classifications of methods of intellectual capital valuation are provided, and the applied criteria are defined. Correspondingly, a classification scheme of intellectual capital valuation methods has been developed.

Credit Risk Assessment Model for Lithuanian Credit Unions. PhD student R. Špicas.

Based on the research of financial indexes, the aggregate solvency index for Lithuanian credit unions and other credit institutions giving credits for small and very small Lithuanian companies was created. It was proven that it can be used as an alternative to the indices and/or bankruptcy prediction models used by solvency agencies operating in Lithuania. The results of the study on aggregated solvency index performance that was carried out are shown graphically. It is evident that the proposed index works effectively: when analyzing the data of one year’s financial statements, it is more effective than the multiple discriminant analysis and logistic regression models.

The Correlation between Text and Context. Prof. Dr. A. Krasnovas, Prof. Dr. J. Krūminienė, Prof. Dr. G. Bankauskaitė-Sereikienė. 2013.

The research deals with the poetics and rhetorics of fiction and public discourse (namely, advertisement), taking into consideration social, cultural, genre-based contexts, as well as interaction between text and context. Emphasis was placed on the problems of inner hollowness and absurd in the fiction of the postmodern period as well as the dialogical nature distinct in various fiction masterpieces in the World and Lithuanian literature of the 19th and 20th century. The role of symbols of faith in World’s fiction was also taken into account.

Applied Aspects of Linguistic and Interdisciplinary Language Research. Assoc. Prof. D. Satkauskaitė, Prof. H.Drossiger.

The main focus was on the audiovisual translation, its types, aspects and problems. The aim was to expand on current scientific research carried out in the world, focusing on the multimodality of audiovisual production. The investigation showed how in audiovisual texts (as polysemic constructs) different verbal, non-verbal audio and visual sign systems interact. The research emphasised the linguistic and extralinguistic aspects of humour in audiovisual texts and possibilities to reflect them in translation. The investigation led to a significant conclusion that it is essential to develop the research area of visual phonetics as it is newly established in Lithuania and its theoretical background is very important in the process of dubbing.

Development and Analysis of Artificial Intelligent Systems. Application of Intelligent Methods to Investigation of Financial Markets. Financial Risk Research. Prof. V. Sakalauskas, Assoc. Prof. D. Krikščiūnienė, Prof. G. Garšva, Dr. D. Dilijonas, Assoc. Prof. S. Masteika.

The main goals of the 2013 research were to elaborate models for applying artificial intelligence for anomaly detection and information efficiency.

The research problem of intelligent monitoring deals with facility management data flows collected from heterogeneous sources, including low-level data of sensors and probes, geographical indicators, scheduling and personal identification systems. We suggested the framework of analytical model, based on deriving descriptors which could sentinel the level of thermal comfort of working environments. The model aims to facilitate process of extracting essential characteristics of facility management for detecting dependencies and observing anomalies. The performance of the model was tested by experimental analysis of facility management of the university campus.

We explored influence of weight selection for input variables and ability of revealing most influential variables used for customer clustering. We apply Logit regression analysis and self-organized mapping technique for presenting rule design approach for CRM purposes. The investigated method provides insights for managing customer clusters and building incentives for customers.

The investigation of usability of conventional data mining tools for handling big data in financial institutions disclosed the characteristics of big data and also enabled to determine the requirements for software that should be able to deal with big data. Four different software packages were tested with a set of big data extracted from bank local data warehouse. The possibility to visualize and cluster selected big data was analyzed by conventional data mining tools.

Research activities aiming at investigating efficiency of hybrid speech recognition approach were carried in 2013. It was shown that different HMM based approaches have different efficiency for different voice commands and could be used together to improve overall recognition accuracy (e.g. using logical rules to combine them). It has been shown that for acoustically similar contexts single HMM model per voice command could have better discriminant capabilities.

Phonetics and Voice Technologies Group

The investigations were carried out to get higher recognition accuracy of voice commands using hybrid approach. Methods used were: HMMs used to model whole voice command, HMMs used to model triphones and adapted to recognize Lithuanian voice commands Spanish recognizer. Combination of all those approaches allowed achieving very high accuracy (98.75%) rate of 1000 medical terms. It is important that recognition of 25 most difficult to recognize medical terms (the highest error rate with triphones) and modelling them with single HMM chain enabled to achieve absolute recognition of 100%.
