Projects Supported by University Budget

Theoretical and Practical Problems of Implementation of the Legal Acts of European Union as Well as Criminal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and Code on Punishment Execution . Pr of. Habil. Dr. G. Švedas. 2011–2015.

The Manual on Special Part of Criminal Law was published including a lot of theoretical and practical tasks from the criminal law, Supreme Court of Lithuania jurisprudence, etc. (Prof. Habil. Dr. G. Švedas, Dr. R. Aliukonienė, Dr. A. Vosyliūtė, M. Aidukas).

The Manual on General Part of Punishment Execution Law was published (Prof. Habil. Dr. G. Švedas).

National conference (jointly with the Mykolas Riomeris University and Vytautas Magnus University) dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Criminal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure of Lithuania was organized (Prof. Dr. A. Abramavičius, Prof. Dr. J. Prapiestis, Prof. Habil. Dr. G. Švedas).

The Harmonisation of Civil Law and the Results of the Convergence in Europe on National Civil Law of Lithuania. Prof. V. Mikelėnas. 2012–2015.

National Research Projects

The Research Council of Lithuania. The Challenges of the Economic Crisis (Recession) on the Rule of Law and Human Rights (Nr. VP1-3.1-ŠMM-07-K-03-085 (2013-05-02)). Head of project: Prof. E. Kūris. 2013–2015.

The subject of the research is the effects of the economic crisis (recession) on Lithuanian legal system in 2008. Public authorities have accepted, initiated and / or offered, but have not implemented the efficiency improvements on social institutes and cost-reduction legislation, application of law, which had to overcome the crisis or at least mitigate its effects. The subject of the research is a comprehensive analysis of the above legislation and application of law from the perspective of its impact on the constitutional grounds of Lithuanian legal system, inter alia, on the rule of law (the democratic system) and human rights.

The following issues were dealt with: legal protection of forests by Lithuanian Statutes; Constitution of May 3, 1791, and Lithuanian constitutional tradition; Lithuanian Statutes as a source of modern Lithuanian constitutionalism; development of criminal laws regulating liability for grievous bodily harm in Lithuania; jurisdiction of secular and ecclesiastical courts in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania; norms of sexual behaviour according to the collection of Russian orthodox canon laws in Kormciji Knigi et al.
