Public lecture by Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset at Vilnius University

On May 11, at 3 p.m., we invite you to a public lecture by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, at Vilnius University.

In times of rupture when Europe is facing war, disinformation, economic uncertainty and democratic backsliding, democratic security is a matter of national security. Alain Berset will make the case for a New Democratic Pact for Europe and engage with the Vilnius University community on the future of the continent.

During the event, there will be an opportunity to ask questions about the state of European democracy, the response to migration challenges, the fight against FIMI, media freedom and human rights – topics of the approaching meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Chisinau on May 14–15.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr Erika Leonaitė, lecturer at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University.

The event will be held in English, in the Aula Parva of Vilnius University, Universiteto g. 3.
