A Guide for Doctoral Students

Have you been admitted to a doctoral program and will soon begin your studies at Vilnius University? Everything you need to know, do, and how to prepare properly for your studies can be found on this page.

Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSIC)

After registering for studies, you need to order a Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSIC). The University transfers the data of admitted students to the LSIC administrator within a few weeks after signing the study contract. Typically, the LSIC is issued within two weeks.

The LSIC is a document that confirms student status and grants the right to use the University library and equipment. It is also required when taking exams.

E-Identity Management and Other Systems

Once you receive your Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSIC) and LSIC number, you must log in to the VU E-Identity Management System, where you can:

  • Access your VU email account;
  • Log in to your student account;
  • After logging in to your student account, register your bank account number, which will be used for scholarship payments.

On the VU e-services page, you will also find other widely used online tools that make it easier and faster for students to access the information provided.

Accommodation

We invite all newly admitted students of VU to live in one of the dormitory campuses located in Vilnius, Kaunas, or Šiauliai.
