Call for funding of interdisciplinary R&D projects implemented by Young researchers

Vilnius University launches a call for funding interdisciplinary research projects by early-career researchers. The projects are funded by the Vilnius University Research Promotion Fund and aim to develop the skills of young University researchers of R&D project implementation and coordination. Applications will be accepted until June 9.

“We are continuing this fine tradition of encouraging young researchers to undertake interdisciplinary research and thereby contribute to inter-faculty collaboration. This will not only enrich their scientific knowledge and provide unique experience, but also offer an opportunity to ‘discover’ their own research topic, which could in the future become the basis for much larger-scale projects,” says Prof. Dr. Gintaras Valušis, Vice Rector and Vice Rector for Research at Vilnius University.

This is the seventh call for proposals under this program. To date, the funded projects have achieved impressive results, varying from scientific publications in top-ranked academic journals to expeditions, exhibitions, and the development of recommendations. Collaboration between different academic units provides an opportunity to broaden the scope of scientific interests in ongoing research and encourages young researchers to learn to take a broader view of the scientific question.

“Young researchers” of this call are defined as Master and Doctoral students, as well as researchers who obtained their doctoral degree no earlier than five years prior to the deadline for submitting applications.

Project duration: September 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027.
