FINIS ANNI ACADEMICI – Vilnius University’s Academic Year Closing Ceremony

FINIS ANNI ACADEMICI – Vilnius University’s Academic Year Closing Ceremony
On Tuesday 30 June at 3.00 p.m., the Vilnius University (VU) community will traditionally mark the end of the academic year. At the “Finis anni academici” ceremony, held at VU's Church of St Johns, the Rector will encourage researchers to pursue research results of the highest standard and will present commemorative awards for research achievements to researchers and research groups.
During the ceremony, students and staff who suffered under totalitarian regimes and were expelled from the University will also be solemnly honoured with symbolic Diplomas of Remembrance. The Rector’s commendations will also be presented to graduates whose studies and research activities have been recognised with Magna Cum Laude diplomas.
At 5.30 p.m., the University flag will be lowered, symbolically marking the end of another academic year at VU for the academic community. The flag will be raised again on 1 September, opening the new academic year.
