Minor field studies
In addition to your main degree programme, you may also choose Minor studies in another field. Minor studies are worth 30-60 credits of required and/or elective courses in a specific field.
Who is eligible to enrol in Minor field studies?
Students whose first-cycle or integrated study programmes include the option of Individualised Studies (IND) may choose from the Minor field study programmes offered by the University (up to a maximum of 60 ECTS credits).
Minor field study programmes are one way to fulfil your Individualised Studies plan, so all credits allocated to them would be distributed in 5, 10, 15, or 20 credits per semester.
If your main study program plan includes 60 IND credits, by choosing a Minor field studies of this scope, you would no longer need to register for Individualised Study courses; instead, you would study the courses specified in the Minor field study programme plan. If your main study programme plan includes more IND credits than the Minor field study programme provides, you will be able to choose the remaining IND credits at your discretion.
When and how should you choose Minor field studies?
Registration takes place at the scheduled time in the University’s “eStudentas” system.
Schedule for Minor field studies
You can view the schedule for Minor studies at tvarkarasciai.vu.lt by selecting the department that offers the relevant programme. If you cannot find the schedule for the programme you are looking for, please contact the department offering the programme.
Attention! Each student is responsible for ensuring that the courses (modules) of their chosen Minor field studies do not overlap with the schedule of the main programme’s core or required courses (modules).
When do the Minor studies end?
Minor field studies begin in the fall (3rd) semester of the second year and end in the fall (7th) semester of the fourth year. Minor field studies are completed by preparing and presenting a final project or by taking a final exam. Your bachelor’s degree diploma will include information about the minor studies you have completed, in addition to details about your Major field programme.
How can I withdraw from the Minor field programme?
You may discontinue your Minor field studies after any semester (once you have received grades for all Minor courses taken) before the start of the new semester. To discontinue your Minor field studies, you must submit a free-form request via the IS VU system.
If you terminate your Minor studies, the credits earned for Minor courses will remain on your academic record, and starting from the new semester, you will participate in the registration for Individualised studies courses (if this is provided for in your study plan).
If you have outstanding debts or a credit deficit after discontinuing your Minor field studies, contact the academic coordinator of your department (faculty) to resolve them.
For additional information about Minor field studies, contact the department that organizes the specific Minor field study program.
