Prof. G. Soriano Barabino, Arqus Institutional Coordinator at the University of Granada, visited VU

Today, Prof. Guadalupe Soriano Barabino, Arqus Institutional Coordinator at the University of Granada, visited Vilnius University (VU) to take part in a meeting and workshop dedicated to the development and coordination of joint study programmes. At the 18th meeting of the Arqus Rectors’ Council on 13 February, it was ratified that as of 1 October 2026 she will assume the role of Arqus Alliance Coordinator, ensuring continuity in leadership as the Alliance moves into a new funding cycle. 

During her visit to VU, Prof. Soriano Barabino met with the Rector, Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, Pro-Rector for Partnerships Dr Artūras Vasiliauskas, and Arqus Institutional Coordinator at VU Dr Julija Savickė. The discussion focused on the future of the joint academic offer, common goals of the alliance partners, and the exchange on the views on transforming institutions through the alliance.

At the 18th meeting of the Arqus Rectors’ Council, two new joint study programmes were also approved. The Joint Bachelor’s Programme in Physics for Technology has been developed by VU together with the University of Granada, the University of Padua and the University of Wrocław. The Joint Master’s Programme in Translation, Technologies and Artificial Intelligence will be delivered by VU in cooperation with the University of Granada, the University of Graz and the University of Minho. 

Prof. Guadalupe Soriano Barabino has served as Arqus Institutional Coordinator at the University of Granada since 2023. She is a Senior Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting and lead researcher of the AVANTI research group. She has extensive experience in senior university management in the areas of mobility, academic programme design and management, internationalisation and institutional language policy. Her involvement in Arqus dates back to 2020, when she represented the University of Granada in various Action Lines (Arqus I) and Working Groups (Arqus II), and contributed to the design and coordination of the Arqus Multiple Master’s Programme in Translation.
