Scholarship for research achievements
Scholarship for research achievements – awarded to students of the first cycle, second cycle, integrated, professional pedagogy and residency study programmes who are distinguished for their mature research activities. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage students to engage in research, innovation, and academic development, as well as to recognise their contribution to the university's scientific community.
Intended for students who:
Scholarship amount and payment procedure
Amount: The amount of the scholarship ranges from 2 to 15 basic social benefits (BSB).
The BSB is set at EUR 74 as of January 2026.
Application deadlines: Fall semester by November 10, spring semester by May 10.
How to apply:
- Applications must be submitted via the Vilnius University information system (VU IS) before the deadline.
- The application shall be accompanied by a detailed description of the student’s research activities and documents supporting these activities (copies of published or accepted publications, conference presentation abstracts, project works, diplomas, recommendations, etc.).
Payment:
- The fall semester scholarship is paid in December, and the spring semester scholarship is paid in June.
- Awarded based on the student's application and submitted documents proving academic achievements.
- The decision is made by the scholarship award committee after evaluating the performance criteria.
- The funds are transferred to the account specified by the student.

Can I apply if I don't have any publications yet, but am participating in a project?
Yes, if you are actively involved in a scientific project, this can be considered a significant scientific achievement. It is important to provide supporting documents (project description, supervisor's recommendation, etc.).
Can a scholarship be awarded together with an incentive scholarship?
Yes, these scholarships are not mutually exclusive. If you meet the criteria for both scholarships, you can receive both at the same time.
Do I need to apply every semester?
Yes, you must submit an application during the selection process for each semester, as scholarships are awarded for a specific period and the most recent achievements are evaluated.
