Scholarship for social activities
Scholarship for social activities – awarded to students at all levels, integrated and vocational studies for individual achievements that contribute to the creation of a future society, solving societal problems, achieving the goals set out in the strategic plan of the University and other accomplishments that promote the name of the University.
Intended for students who:
Participates in organizations, initiatives, or projects at the university, city, national, or international level.
Contributes to promoting the name of Vilnius University and the welfare of society.
Organizes events, projects, campaigns, or actively participates in cultural, sporting, or social activities.
Scholarship amount and payment procedure
Amount: The scholarship amount ranges from 2 to 15 basic social benefits (BSB).
The BSB is set at EUR 74 as of January 2026.
Application deadlines: October 25 for the fall semester, March 25 for the spring semester.
How to apply:
- Applications must be submitted via the Vilnius University information system (VU IS) before the deadline.
- The application must be accompanied by a detailed description of the student’s activities for which the scholarship is requested, and specify the periods, scope and relevance of the activities to the society or promotion of the name of the University. Recommendations, documents supporting the activities, etc., can also be provided.
Payment:
- The fall semester scholarship is paid in December, and the spring semester scholarship is paid in May.
- Awarded based on the student's application and documents proving the scope and impact of their activities.
- The decision is made by the scholarship award committee after evaluating the performance criteria.
- The funds are transferred to the account specified by the student.
Scholarship award criteria
Level of responsibility:
It is assessed whether the student was a coordinator, leader, or member. Leaders and organizers receive a higher score.
Scope of activities:
Whether the activities were carried out at the university, city, national, or international level.
Size of the audience reached:
How many people were reached by the results of the activity – from narrow groups to the general public.
Impact of results:
Influence on the VU community and society, contribution to promoting the name of VU, and achievements.
Additional points:
For long-term activity, multiple activities at the same time, volunteering, and exceptional recommendations.
