Sukurta: 21 March 2023

0000call os ambassadors 3x2 600If you are passionate about Open Science, if you have experience in Open Science and would like to foster it at your university and beyond in a European university network, become an Arqus Open Science Ambassador! One of the objectives of Arqus is to foster community- and identity-building across our member universities. Open Science is one of the guiding principles in research to strive for cooperation, reusability and transparency across disciplines and borders. Within this framework, the Open Science Ambassador Network will promote the implementation and development of Open Science activities in the Arqus alliance.

What is the Open Science Ambassador Network in Arqus about?

The ambassadors are experienced experts in Open Science. They promote and commit to the implementation and realization of Open Science guidelines and activities across the member universities of the Arqus Alliance. As a starting point, ambassadors should have research interests in the fields of Digitalisation / Artificial Intelligence, Climate Change / Green Deal and/or European Heritage.

Therefore, the ambassadors’ role will be to inspire and engage other researchers (especially PhD students and postdocs) to practice Open Science, deliver needs and expectations on Open Science from a researcher’s perspective to Arqus members, and support others with their expertise, especially in developing Open Science training materials and advising researchers, who want to implement (more) openness in their research processes.

Ambassadors need to have:

Strong motivation to promote Open Science.
Significant experience in one or more Open Science fields, e.g. open publications and data, open software, science communication, citizen science or open education.
Basic knowledge of Open Science networks and infrastructures (e.g. information/support centres, tools).

The benefits of being a member of our Open Science Ambassador Network are:

Foster further development and implementation of Open Science in Arqus and beyond in a huge network of other European university alliances.
Exchange with other Open Science experts and foster your own Open Science skills.
The opportunity for long-term networking and logistic support in an Arqus Community of Practice.

One of the focuses of the Alliance is Open Science. Its strategy involves a common understanding of Open Science principles and practices, fostering joint guidelines and implementation as well as competency building for researchers, especially those who are at the beginning of their careers.
