Exchange Programmes

There are two types of NON-DEGREE students:

Exchange Students are those who come to Vilnius University under the exchange programme or bilateral agreement. They are treated according to the programme or agreement conditions and, as a rule, are exempt from the tuition fees at Vilnius University.

Free-Movers are those who come to Vilnius University under their own initiative. They are expected to cover their tuition fees which are calculated according to their chosen courses so the prices may vary from faculty to faculty.

Erasmus - offers the opportunity for student studies abroad, placements in enterprises, university staff teaching and training, and it funds co-operation projects between higher education institutions across Europe. More information is available at: ec.europa.eu/education/index_en.htm

Erasmus+ - is the EU Programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020. More information is available here.

ISEP - the first global student exchange consortium is a worldwide network of over 300 higher education institutions in over 50 countries cooperating to provide affordable access to international education for a diverse student population. NORDPLUS - Nordplus Higher Education supports cooperation between and mobility of students and teachers from Higher Education institutions in Nordic and Baltic countries. More information is available on the website: www.nordplusonline.org.

State financing of part-time studies - Funding may be granted for the following activities: Short-Term Studies; Lithuanian Short-Term Studies; Summer/Winter courses in Lithuanian language and culture (from three weeks to one month).

Exchange through bilateral agreements - students currently studying at one of the Vilnius University international partner institutions may apply to become bilateral exchange students for one or two semesters.

To find out if you may apply to become a bilateral student at Vilnius University, you must contact the international office at your home institution. You have to apply through your home university. Local procedures and deadlines will vary according to each institution.
