State Scholarship for short–term (1-2 semesters) studies of all fields
Lithuanian authorities conclude cultural agreements with foreign countries to promote cultural links and co-operation in the fields of education and science.
Nominations according to the conditions stipulated in the agreements or concrete calls for nominations have to be made by the sending country’s authorities; nevertheless, evidence of acceptance of the candidate to the host institution in Lithuania is one of the prerequisites for being awarded a state scholarship. For more information concerning conditions and procedures of application, students are encouraged to contact respective authorities in their home countries.
Lithuanian state scholarship for the Lithuanian (Baltic) studies
Students from any other country wishing to pursue studies in the Department of Lithuanian Studies at Vilnius University may apply for the Lithuanian state scholarship designed exclusively for Lithuanian (Baltic) studies. Applications can be submitted directly to the Department of Higher Education and Science. Such scholarships cover only a monthly allowance; tuition fees, accommodation and other expenses have to be secured from other resources.
Exchange Students are those who come to Vilnius University under the exchange programme or bilateral agreement. They are treated according to the programme or agreement conditions and, as a rule, are exempt from the tuition fees at Vilnius University.
Free-Movers are those who come to Vilnius University under their own initiative. They are expected to cover their tuition fees which are calculated according to their chosen courses so the prices may vary from faculty to faculty.
