The Arqus Annual Conference will bring together representatives from each institution, including senior management, academics, administrative and support staff, students, and doctoral candidates, as well as external experts and other stakeholders from outside academia. The conference is meant to ensure their active involvement in Arqus activities with a view to incorporating alumni and strategic international partners gradually also into the Alliance’s activities. where possible.

Despite the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, both in terms of travel restrictions but also in terms of the limited number of participants at the venue, this is a unique opportunity to strengthen the links between the seven universities and continue building the Arqus community, which are the real foundations of the Alliance.

Nobody expected, back in February 2020, that the first Annual Conference of the Arqus Alliance, meant to take place in Lyon (France) in March 2020, would have to be postponed due to a worldwide pandemic that has made us rethink and reorganize our way of living and working.

In spite of the (forced) virtual interaction during all this time, it is true that a real community can only build when colleagues get to know each other and to interact in a closer way that only physical participation can allow. This is why the Arqus Alliance is looking forward to its first Annual Conference in Vilnius (Lithuania), made possible thanks to the hard work of the Vilnius University colleagues. The Arqus community will finally be able to come together for three days of open activities and internal discussions on several topics relevant for the future of the Alliance.

The Conference has a limited capacity due to COVID restrictions, and most of the sessions will be held in a blended format, so more Arqus participants will be able to attend them remotely.

Save the dates: 5th to 7th October 2021
