Graz, Lyon, Vilnius and Padua Organize the First Arqus Webinar on “Support Networks for Inclusion”

Sukurta: 17 November 2021

support networks 3x2600The 2.4 task force "Support networks for inclusion", within the Arqus Action Line 2 "Widening access, inclusion and diversity", is pleased to present its first webinar on Tuesday 23rd November from 10:00 to 12:30 (CET).

Four Arqus partner universities - Graz, Lyon, Vilnius and Padua - will present the main challenges, achievements, experiences and best practices of support networks for inclusion. This webinar will be followed by a second one in March 2022 (date and details to be announced soon) featuring the Universities of Bergen, Granada and Leipzig.

The event is particularly relevant for Student Services Officers at Arqus partner universities, but it is of interest for the entire university community and for the Alliance: students, academic and non-academic staff, members of AL2 task forces - especially those whose work has greatly contributed to the progress of the 2.4 activity, and anyone interested.

Please register here: you will be provided with the link to access the meeting. Registration is open until the start of the webinar.

Description of the webinar:

Building welcoming and inclusive university contexts are imperative. Providing a facilitating environment at all levels implies a close interaction between university offices, departments, units, services, as well as deep cooperation with civil society organisations and institutions at the local, regional and global levels. Support networks are paramount while a student is following his/her course of study at the university, but they become absolutely necessary in transition phases, especially when students are accessing higher education and when they are entering the job market after finishing their studies. They are extremely relevant for the most vulnerable members of society and of the university community: they can really change their quality of life, allowing them not 'only' to see their rights respected but also to thrive.

There is no "one-size-fits-all" model of support networks: this webinar will look into different inspiring networks in place at some of Arqus partner universities, tackling topics such as gender issues, disabilities, enabling refugees, and promoting human rights altogether. Questions to the speakers and open discussions are strongly encouraged.
