Professor Cathy Quantin-Nataf, the specialist in space exploration at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, takes us along on her exciting Mars expeditions with both the American and the European Space Agencies, NASA and ESA, respectively.

In her podcast “Is there life on Mars?”, she explains her interest in exploring this planet and the difficulties it involves and tells us about her role in these missions as a professor and researcher.

Cathy Quantin-Nataf is a Professor and Researcher at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and a specialist in space exploration. After studying ground movements in Besançon and Paris, she came to Lyon for her thesis. Thanks to her thesis supervisor, she developed a particular interest in the planet Mars and subsequently devoted herself to its study. She did her post-doctorate at the Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C., the most famous museum in the United States (8 million visitors per year). Nowadays, at the Geology Laboratory in Lyon, this scientist is trying to unravel the mysteries of the planet Mars. Her main research focuses on the reconstitution of the geological history of planets based on multiple kinds of data from either orbiters or rovers. She is involved in Mars2020 (NASA) mission and in the preparation of Exomars (ESA) mission.
