Arqus Publishes its Mission Statement for the Next 10 Years

Sukurta: 03 May 2022

MissionStatement 3x2 600The new Arqus Mission Statement (2022-2032) defines globally the vision, mission, values and major goals of the Alliance for the next 10 years. The document is a programmatic approach, establishing the Arqus priorities for the next 10 years, including all aspects of Alliance activity (education, research, innovation, culture, societal engagement, global outreach), beyond the priorities of specific funding calls and programmes.

This renewed Mission Statement builds upon and substitutes the first Arqus Mission Statement 2019-25. It builds on the Alliance’s experience of working together since 2018, in particular during the first Erasmus+ work plan 2019-22 and the Horizon 2020 SwafS project Arqus R&I 2021-23 as well as on valuable contributions from the new members, Minho and Wroclaw, incorporated in late 2021.

According to its Mission Statement, Arqus wants to be recognised as a forward-looking, open, integrated, and research-driven European University, building transformative excellence with and for all. The principal mission of the Alliance is to transform European higher education, research and innovation through deep cooperation and progressive integration, in pursuit of an equitable and sustainable future. The implementation of this innovative model for deep inter-university cooperation will be based on key identifying features such as inclusiveness, excellence, digitalisation, sustainability, interdisciplinarity, global engagement and multiculturalism, among others.

The Mission Statement has been the base to elaborate the Work Plan of the Alliance for the next 4 years (Erasmus+ 2022-2026), which has been drafted based on the outcomes of the participatory process involving more than 200 academic and non-academic staff as well as students from all partner universities.

Both documents, the Mission Statement 2022-2032 and the Work Plan were approved by the Arqus Rectors’ Council on 11th March, in a meeting which was also attended by representatives of the Students’ Council.
