Vilnius University (VU) invites international students to join the VU Student Ambassador Programme. As an ambassador, you will share your experience and advice with other international students while developing valuable professional skills and building new connections. The initiative provides an excellent opportunity to find your place in the vibrant international VU community and the University as a whole.

‘Joining the VU Student Ambassador Programme is a great opportunity to strengthen your communication, leadership, and networking skills. This programme allows you to meet people from all over the world, gain public speaking experience, and become part of a motivated community united by a common goal – representing Vilnius University. It’s also personally rewarding to know that you’re helping others make important study-related decisions and feel more at home in a new environment,’ remarked Azlan Bhatti, a medical student from the United Arab Emirates.

Amina Urazayeva, who studies Global Marketing at VU and comes from Kazakhstan, says the programme has helped her grow both personally and professionally:

‘As a future marketing specialist, I’ve learned a lot about marketing in practice through this programme. It gave me hands-on experience in an informal setting. I’ve also made many meaningful connections and friendships, learned more about different cultures and traditions, including Lithuanian ones, and discovered what life is like at other faculties.’

VU’s international student ambassadors share their personal insights about studying at the University and answer questions from prospective and current students about the study process, study programmes, life in Lithuania, and other practical issues.

Ambassadors also contribute to the development of the University’s marketing tools – taking part in photoshoots, filming sessions, and creating promotional or social media content. The programme offers an excellent opportunity to become an active member of the VU international community, make friends, participate in cultural events, represent the University, and gain skills that are valuable for your future career.

Sean Christopher Fitzpatrick, an Irish student of the Politics of Global Challenges study programme, became an ambassador because he wanted to help other international students discover VU:

‘I really love this University – I’m enjoying my studies and have made many great friendships. Not many people in Ireland know about VU, but to me, it feels like finding a hidden gem that others haven’t discovered yet. I truly want more people to experience what VU has to offer, and being an ambassador is one of the best ways to help others learn about this great place.’

For Thuria Osamah Ahmed, a medical student from Iraq, joining the programme was driven by a wish to support fellow international students facing similar challenges and questions: ‘When you move to a new country, you have to start from scratch. That’s why it’s so valuable to share your experience with others who are going through the same.’

‘If you ever feel lonely, are looking for new experiences, or want to meet people from around the world and become more culturally aware, join our friendly community! You’ll create fun and unforgettable memories, feel proud representing Vilnius University, and develop a valuable skill set, including improved organisation, intercultural communication, and public speaking. If you have any questions about the University and student life, you can always reach out to us through the VU website, under the ‘VU Ambassadors’ section,’ encouraged Amina Urazayeva.
