Breaking News for Lithuania: VU – Among the Top 500 Universities in the World
For the first time in the history of Lithuanian Higher Education Vilnius University has been ranked among the top 500 universities in the world.
Following the world university ranking 2016/2017, published by “QS World University Rankings“, VU improved its position to 481-490 from the 551-600 position previously.
“It's a truly historic rating for Lithuania, as VU is the first in the country to get into the Top 500 of elite universities in the world. And we do not limit ourselves with this national leadership – our goal is to join the ranks of the best European universities”, – prof. Artūras Žukauskas, VU Rector commented on the latest achievement.
Apart from VU, three more universities of Lithuania – Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Kaunas University of Technology, and Vytautas Magnus University participated in the ranking and share lower position – 701+.
Over 3,800 institutions were considered for inclusion into the 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings and 916 were ranked.
The primary aim of the QS World University Rankings is to help students make informed comparisons of leading universities around the world. Based on performance indicators, the rankings are designed to assess universities in main areas, such as research, teaching, employability and internationalization.
