French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs to Visit Vilnius University and Meet VU Students

On the 30th of March, French minister for Europe and Foreign affairs Catherine Colonna will visit Vilnius university (VU). The politician will meet Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas, Vice-Rector of Science Prof. Edita Sužiedėliene and participate in a discussion with VU students.

The informal encounter with students will include a discussion on the political relations between the countries. Discussion will be moderated by the director of the Institute of International Relations and Political Science Prof. Margarita Šešelgytė. The meeting will take place in VU Aula Parva Hall.

After the discussion, C. Colonna together with Rector Prof. Rimvydas Petrauskas and the Dean of Faculty of History Dr. Loreta Skurvydaite, will visit Franciszek Smuglewicz’s Hall of the University Old Library, where they will view the exhibition of various rarities from the Library heritage collections. At the end the guest will visit the Church of St. Johns.

Catherine Colonna is a French diplomat and politician, born 16 April 1956 in Tours. After obtaining a master's degree in public law at the University of Tours, she pursued her studies at the Paris Institute of Political Studies then National School of Administration in the class of 1983. She started her diplomatic career in 1983 at the French Embassy in Washington. C. Colonna was French Ambassador to Italy (2014-2017) and the United Kingdom (2019-2022). She was appointed French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs in 2022.
