International conference dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Prof. Levas Vladimirovas
Communication Faculty of Vilnius University and Vilnius University Library invites to attend an International conference dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Prof. Levas Vladimirovas ,,The Past Returned: The phenomenon of Prof. Lev Vladimirov and dissemination of scientific ideas", which will be held at Vilnius University, Universiteto st. 3, in 15–16 November 2012.
The purpose of the anniversary conference is to remember the outstanding personality of Levas Vladimirovas (1912-1999), his works and influence on the library and information sciences and studies, both theory and practice. The conference is entitled The Past Returned (Lat. Vetera Reducta), which sets an obligation to discuss the merits of Prof. Vladimirovas of returning the collections of cultural heritage scattered in the near abroad back to Lithuania, explaining the origin and fate of heritage, its preservation and dissemination, generalising the experience of digitization of the heritage of memory institutions in Lithuania and neighbouring countries, revealing the role of a library, museum, archive specialist in the context of present challenges of heritage preservation and presentation
