International conference „Times and Places of Czeslaw Milosz“

On June 27-28 the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore and Vilnius University organize an international conference „Times and Places of Czeslaw Milosz“. The one hundredth anniversary of the Nobel Prize winner, alumnus of Vilnius University Czeslaw Milosz (1911-2004) provides an important opportunity to reflect on the influence that this writer and intellectual as well as his creative work bear on the modern consciousness.

The spaces of Czeslaw Milosz that in his poetry serve as the most important guidelines in search of reality and meaning include Lithuania, Poland, Central and Eastern European region, France, and the United States of America.

The conference will be held at Vilnius University in the Lithuanian, Polish and English languages. A memorial plate of Cz. Miłosz will be opened at Vilnius University M. K. Sarbievius Courtyard on June 26 at 5 p.m.

After the conference in Vilnius, the cultural events of centennial celebration programme “The Route of Milosz” will continue in Kaunas, Kėdainiai, Šeteniai, and Krasnogruda (Poland) on June 29-July 1.
