Moldovan Ambassador to Lithuania Emil Druc Visits VU Life Sciences Centre

On 27 May, the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Lithuania, Emil Druc, visited the Life Sciences Centre of Vilnius University (VU LSC). During the visit, opportunities for scientific collaboration between researchers from both countries were discussed.

Ambassador E. Druc and the accompanying delegation were welcomed by Dr Arvydas Lubys, Director of VU LSC, and Prof Eglė Lastauskienė, Adviser for International Relations.

The visit included an introduction to the Centre’s activities, including its study programmes and key research areas. Discussions focused on the importance of internationalisation in higher education, the potential for joint scientific projects between Lithuanian and Moldovan researchers, and opportunities for research funding. The exchange of students and academic staff, as well as strengthening cooperation between science and industry, were also addressed.

During the visit, the delegation was introduced to single-cell analysis technologies developed in Prof Linas Mažutis’ laboratory. The guests also toured the Centre’s training laboratories, which play a key role in developing students’ practical skills.

The visit highlighted the mutual interest in fostering academic and scientific cooperation between Lithuania and Moldova and laid the groundwork for potential future joint partnerships.
