Mr. Simon Maxwell in IIRPS

In ‘Think Locally, Act Globally’: A New Framework for European Development Cooperation lecture, Mr Maxwell will tackle the European development cooperation problems in times of austerity and global risks management taking into account contemporary events. What must change for us to achieve even greater impact?

Simon Maxwell’s career in international development extends to 40 years. He worked for the UN and the British aid programme in Kenya, India and Bolivia, and for fifteen years at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex. From 1997-2009, he was Director of the Overseas Development Institute, the UK’s leading independent think-tank on international development and humanitarian issues. He is currently Executive Chair of the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (www.cdkn.org), leader of a programme of work on European Development Cooperation (www.international-development.eu) and specialist adviser to the UK House of Commons International Development Select Committee. In 2007, he was awarded a CBE for services to international development.

Dr. Jovita Praneviciute will be moderating the lecture. Every attendee is welcomed to a glass of wine and informal discussion after the lecture.

Lecture will take place at the institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University April 12th, 13:15 in the 402 Conference room.
