Registration for the Scientific Sprint Is Now Open

VU Gimtadienis 445 Mokslo sprintas FB event 1920x1005The science communication contest "Scientific Sprint" is back, calling for registrations to present captivating research or science ideas within a concise 3-minute window. Mark your calendars for the competition on April 11th at 18:00, coinciding with VU's 445th birthday.

Just like previous years, generous cash prizes await the top-performing teams, courtesy of our sponsors. Additionally, participating teams will benefit from a specialized science communication training session scheduled for March 27th.

Teams, comprising a professor and a student, are encouraged to showcase a research study or a scientific concept of interest. Remember, presentations must not exceed 3 minutes.

Students at any academic level and lecturers or researchers are welcome to form teams. Once you've secured your team member, make sure to register your team by March 17th.

The presentations will be evaluated by a distinguished panel comprising science and media experts. They will assess the relevance of the research or idea, scientific rigor, clarity of presentation, and the ability to engage and entertain while discussing science. Winners will receive cash prizes as recognition for their outstanding efforts.

COMPETITION CONDITIONS

Contestants will have a maximum of 3 minutes to present either their own research or that of other scientists, or a scientific concept that captivates them.

Rules:

Presentations must not exceed 3 minutes.

A maximum of three slides is permitted during the presentation.

Videos of up to 20 seconds duration may be included.

Props and other visual aids are allowed.

Both team members must be present on stage during the presentation.

Evaluation Criteria:

The presentation showcases the relevance of the research or idea, offering an original and unexpected perspective.

The content of the presentation maintains scientific rigor.

The language used in the presentation is clear and accessible to non-academic audiences.

Participants exhibit enthusiasm and effectively captivate the audience's attention while presenting their chosen research or idea.

The presentation effectively merges scientific content with entertainment value.
