Seminar of optoelectronics

On April 20 at 5 p.m. you are invited to the traditional seminar of optoelectronics, which will take place at the Faculty of Physics, room No 214(Saulėtekio al. 9-III) „INTEGRATION OF HYBRID ORGANIC-BASED SOLAR CELLS FOR MICRO-GENERATION“. Speaker: Dr. Brian Azzopardi, University of Manchester.

This seminar will present the research work on a Ph.D. Thesis recently published at The University of Manchester, UK. The research work integrated new Photovoltaic (PV) technology concept using hybrid organic based solar cells into future PV micro-generators. The challenges faced by emerging PV technologies with regard to PV module lifetime, efficiency and cost / price will be summarised. Also a brief scientific review will be given on Multiple Exciton Generation (MEG) in nanocrystal quantum dots. The uniqueness of this work is that, throughout this research, the issues for commercialisation of emerging PV technologies for micro-generation; in particular with regards to low efficiency, short lifetime and high efficiency degradation, and low-cost / price were extensively analysed in every aspect.
