The Centre of Scandinavian studies presents Carl Michael Bellman’s Eve. En.wikipedia.orgThe Scandinavian Centre, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, is on this occasion inviting everyone to Bellman's eve which will be held on Friday, the 11 May, at 18 a.m. at Aula Parva (Universiteto str. 3, Central university building).

The lecture will be accompanied by songs performed (in English and Swedish) by the Swedish bard Martin Bagge, one of the most prominent Scandinavian musicians in the tradition from C.M. Bellman.

Bellman, the author of Fredman's songs and Fredman's Epistles, is one of the most phenomenal Scandinavian artists - a poet, troubadour and a living legend. Bellman's importance for Swedish literature is compared with Shakespeare's influence on English literature.
