In October, a traditional event “Student for a Day” was hosted at Vilnius University (VU), where pupils had the opportunity to experience first-hand the difference between university studies and school classes. This year’s event attracted significant interest from Lithuanian and foreign pupils, with a total of over 6,200 attendees registered.

The young participants were invited to attend lectures at 15 faculties, including those in Kaunas and Šiauliai, together with VU students. The majority of those wishing to step into students’ shoes were tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders, with particularly high interest among eleventh-grade pupils. Future students gathered from all over the country: Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, and other Lithuanian towns and villages. The event also attracted international participation, mostly by pupils from India, Pakistan, and Turkey.

During the “Student for a Day” event, the university guests were able to attend lectures in various fields of study and take part in multiple interactive activities. This year, they were offered around 400 lectures, most of which were held on campus. Foreign participants also attended lectures on the admission procedures and studies at VU, as well as life in Lithuania in general.

“Student for a Day” is a traditional VU event where pupils can experience student life first-hand. They are invited not only to participate in lectures and seminars, but also to take part in various competitions, win prizes, and learn about the VU admission procedures.
