The University of Minho Welcomes Arqus Postgraduate Students to the Blended Intensive Programme on “Host-Fungus Interactions and Virulence: One Health Approach”

53391519951 1bf8e749c8 kThe University of Minho will host the “Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Host-Fungus Interactions and Virulence: One Health Approach” next May. It will take place in-person from 20th to 24th May and online from 27th to 30th May.

The course is aimed at postgraduate students at universities around the world. Applications are now open and must be sent by 20th April 2024 to . The Erasmus+ Program supports this BIP and has 15 eligible scholarships for one week of in-person attendance at UMinho.


The program will address the following topics:

Theoretical programme

Introduction to Fungal Diseases and One Health Issue
Epidemiology of Fungal Diseases and Environmental Changes
Diagnosis and treatment of fungal infections
Fungal virulence factors and host-pathogen interactions
Introduction to next-generation sequencing methods for studying fungal genetic variations

Laboratory classes programme

Use of PCR to identify different fungal species
In vitro model of macrophage-like cell lines to study host-fungus interactions

This course is organized by the Research Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA) and the Department of Biology of the School of Sciences of UMinho.
