Vilnius University (VU) and the National Taipei University of Education have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance their inter-institutional cooperation. Prof. Aivaras Kareiva, Dean of the VU Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences and authorised representative for collaboration with the National Taipei University of Education, states that Lithuanian chemists have already been cooperating with scientists from the National Taipei University of Technology for over 15 years, while this agreement will now help establish and deepen VU’s partnership with another Taiwanese institution.

By signing the Memorandum of Understanding, VU and the National Taipei University of Education have agreed to cooperate in sharing academic knowledge, promoting staff and student exchanges between the two institutions, organising joint conferences, and mutually implementing research projects in various fields.

According to Prof. Kareiva, networking is a particularly important part of scientific research; thus, signing the Memorandum of Understanding with such an institution is a significant step in gaining both cultural and research-related experience.

This mutual agreement is the result of the long-standing collaboration between the country’s chemists and Taiwanese scientists. Currently, a joint regulation on doctoral studies in chemistry is being prepared with the National Taipei University of Technology – many Lithuanian students and scientists have already completed their internships in Taiwan. The new document signed by VU will open up opportunities for students and researchers in other fields to work with their Taiwanese colleagues.
