English Philology
The English Philology programme equips students with strong written and spoken communication skills essential for professional success in English at C1–C2 levels, while laying a solid foundation in English linguistics, literature, and the cultures of English-speaking countries. The curriculum offers a diverse range of course units focused on enhancing language proficiency, including academic writing, content and creative writing, public speaking, and research communication. Students also develop (creative) translation skills, enabling them to work across languages and cultural contexts with nuance, adaptability, and clarity. Throughout their studies, students cultivate a broad set of soft skills, from analytical and critical thinking to problem-solving and rhetorical competence, while gaining cultural and historical knowledge that empowers them to engage thoughtfully with today’s complex global landscape. English Philology opens strong academic and creative pathways, both independently and in combination with minor study programmes, such as German Philology, Spanish Language and Literature, Scandinavian Studies (Danish, Norwegian, Swedish).
