A career in the world of creativity

Assoc. Prof. Dr Dovilė Balevičienė

Lecturer of the study programme

The Art Management study programme is aimed at both management and arts students who wish to further their knowledge and develop a successful career in the fields of arts and cultural management. Art Management studies are practice-oriented. For example, in my course "Management of Arts Projects," students prepare real project applications, and then some of them submit these applications to various foundations for funding. After receiving funding, students implement projects during their studies, which become the basis for their Master's thesis. The lecture schedule is tailored to working students. The study programme is continually improved in line with the new challenges that organisations face in the field of arts and culture management. We also have regular discussions with our social partners, current students, and graduates. After completing these studies, graduates can work in various cultural and arts organisations as managers, marketing managers, project coordinators, event organisers, start their own businesses or become freelance creative workers. Currently, the Art Management study programme boasts a large number of professionals who manage or work in theatres, galleries, museums, concert halls, cultural centres, libraries, and other cultural and arts organisations.

Improve at your own pace

Eglė Plančiūnienė

Deputy Manager of the Education, Culture, and Sports Department of the Šakiai District Municipality

My choice was determined by the compatibility of my first-cycle studies with this study programme, as I wanted to continue and deepen my management skills, but in a specific field of art. It was also very important to be able to balance my studies with work. I really liked the fact that lectures were held on Friday evenings and Saturdays—this is ideal for a full-time working student. Academic knowledge does not necessarily fill any gaps, but it greatly enriches and broadens one's understanding of the field of arts management in a broad sense.

Do the students work with real projects/organisations/clients during their studies?

Yes. From their first year, students can choose a specific art organisation or field and work with it through different subjects until their Master's thesis, thus consistently developing their professional specialisation.

Do Master's studies help in getting higher positions or improve the qualifications at work?

Yes. This is evidenced by the careers of our graduates.
