Languages and Cultures of the Nordic and Baltic Sea Region

The MA programme Languages and Cultures of the Nordic and Baltic Sea Region invites you to deepen your expertise in Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, or German – while broadening the perspective through comparative and cross-cultural study. You will explore socio-cultural developments that have shaped Eastern, Central and Northern Europe, engaging with cutting-edge topics such as migration and place, posthumanism and digital spaces, gender and family, and much more besides. Our innovative, experiential learning methods will help you engage with grammar, literature, cinema, and politics in unexpected ways, combining academic rigour with practical, applied skills. The flexible programme structure allows you to specialise in literary and cultural studies or (socio)linguistics – or design your own study path across fields. The programme also involves collaboration with similar programmes in the region.
