Since 2021, Vilnius University Business School has been the official national representative, responsible for collecting GEM data annually, producing a 'National Report', and aiming to enhance science-based potential in entrepreneurship.
Global Entrepreneurship Monitoring (GEM) began in 1999, evolving into the richest source of reliable information on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial ecosystems globally. GEM publishes the annual GEM Global Report and various national and special topic reports each year, covering approximately 115 participating countries.
GEM's data collection is centrally coordinated, ensuring the highest quality through rigorous checks and processes.
The data collection engine comprises the Adult Population Survey (APS) and the National Expert Survey (NES). The APS, consisting of 2000 respondents annually, gathers detailed information on entrepreneurial activity, attitudes, and aspirations, while the NES collects data on the socio-economic context affecting entrepreneurship.
Demographic variables are designated by GEM centrally, including gender, age, household size, income, and educational attainment. Geographic representation includes all regions, urban and rural, in the sample universe.
