A Japanese Delegation Participating in a Youth Exchange Programme Visits Vilnius University

On 12 October, Vilnius University (VU) welcomed a Japanese delegation participating in the INDEX 2026: Youth Exchange between Lithuania and Japan programme, implemented jointly with VU.
The visit focused on preventing loneliness and social isolation among young people and working adults. During the visit, Associate Professor Inga Truskauskaitė delivered a presentation, while participants shared their experiences and discussed opportunities for preventing social isolation.
“I am delighted by this initiative, which enables young people from different countries to discuss challenges that affect us all, such as social isolation, loneliness and other related issues. A university is precisely the place where ideas, insights and perspectives can be freely shared. I therefore hope that the connections established will endure and that cooperation will continue even after the programme has ended,” says Dr Artūras Vasiliauskas, Vice-Rector for Partnerships at VU.
The visit included discussions, meetings with representatives of institutions and organisations, and the sharing of best practices in preventing loneliness and social isolation among young people and working adults. The Japanese delegation also includes youth representatives and officials from the Cabinet Office of Japan.
The entire exchange programme takes place from 12 to 24 October: activities will be held in Lithuania from 12 to 14 October and in Japan from 15 to 24 October. The visit to VU is part of a broader programme of delegation visits.
