Application Deadline Extended for Arqus Programme on Microbial Bioremediation

The application deadline for the Arqus “Microbial Agents in Bioremediation” programme has been extended to 20 November, offering a new opportunity to join specialised international training in environmental biotechnology.

The programme explores how microorganisms and synthetic biology can be used to develop innovative approaches to environmental bioremediation. It is particularly relevant for students, graduates and professionals interested in biotechnology, microbiology, environmental sciences and related fields.

Running from 3 December 2026 to 18 February 2027, the programme will be delivered fully online and in English. Participants who successfully complete the programme can earn 5 ECTS credits.

The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications in areas including microbial degradation of pollutants, microbial adaptation, nutrient cycles, synthetic biology and genetic engineering techniques such as CRISPR-Cas. It also examines biosafety and the ethical and regulatory considerations associated with the use of genetically modified microorganisms in the environment.

Jointly organised by the University of Padua and the University of Wrocław within Arqus, the programme brings together international expertise from different academic fields and provides a multidisciplinary perspective on environmental biotechnology.

The programme is suitable for participants with backgrounds in biology, biotechnology, environmental sciences, engineering, chemistry and related disciplines, as well as professionals seeking to expand their knowledge of innovative approaches to pollution and environmental remediation.

Applications are open until 20 November. More information and registration here.
