Arqus Co-Funded Conference to Explore the Complexity of Living Systems

Researchers from across disciplines are invited to take part in the Complexity of Life Conference 2026, an Arqus co-funded event taking place at the University of Graz, Austria, from 7 to 10 September 2026.

Held under the theme “Transitions: From Fundamental Principles to Global Challenges”, the conference will bring together researchers from a wide range of fields to explore how complex living systems function across different structural and dynamic levels. By encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue, the event aims to develop new perspectives on the processes that shape life, from fundamental principles to major global challenges.

The scientific programme will include keynote lectures, contributed talks and poster sessions, offering participants opportunities to exchange ideas, establish collaborations and discuss the latest developments in complexity science and its applications. Topics will range from critical transitions, self-organisation and resilience to ecological regime shifts, social transformations, sustainability, health, innovation and computational approaches to complex systems.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required by 24 August 2026.
