Arqus Joint Degree in Translation and AI Receives Accreditation

The Arqus Joint Master’s Programme in Translation, Technologies and Artificial Intelligence has been officially accredited without conditions by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria. The programme, jointly offered by the University of Graz, the University of Granada, the University of Minho and Vilnius University, will welcome its first students in autumn 2027.
The new two-year programme brings together expertise in translation, language technologies and artificial intelligence from four Arqus universities. It is designed for students interested in translation and interpreting in an increasingly digital environment, as well as those wishing to explore research at the intersection of multilingual communication, technology and AI.
Through an interdisciplinary and international curriculum, students will examine how technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence are transforming translation and interpreting. Particular attention will be given to the critical evaluation of computer- and AI-supported tools and workflows, enabling students to consider both their potential and the challenges associated with their use.
International mobility will be an integral part of the programme. Students will study at more than one partner university and will also take part in joint components delivered by the four institutions online and in blended or hybrid formats. This structure will allow them to benefit from the academic expertise and learning environments of universities across the Arqus Alliance while developing an international academic and professional profile.
Throughout the programme, students will develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to design and implement computer- and AI-supported translation workflows and contribute to effective multilingual and intercultural communication.
Graduates will be prepared for interdisciplinary careers in areas such as digital and AI-supported translation, multilingual project management and the development of AI integration strategies and policies. The programme will also address AI-related risk assessment, the sustainable integration of digital technologies and machine learning, and the development of new language-technology solutions.
Following accreditation, preparations are now under way for the programme’s first intake in autumn 2027. Information about applications will be provided by the partner universities and through the Arqus website.
The new programme expands the Arqus portfolio of joint degree programmes to five, further strengthening cooperation between Alliance universities in developing international study opportunities that respond to emerging academic and professional fields.
