Arqus Learning Opportunity Strengthens Communication Skills for Interpreting

The Arqus Alliance is offering a micro-credential designed to develop the essential oral communication skills needed in translation and interpreting. The programme focuses on listening, analysing spoken discourse and communicating meaning clearly and accurately.

Participants will strengthen their active listening, analysis and synthesis, reformulation and paraphrasing skills. They will also explore verbal and non-verbal communication, as well as interpersonal and intercultural communication.

The programme begins by developing these core skills in the participant’s main working language. The final part focuses on applying them in realistic communication scenarios involving both a main and a second working language.

Training is highly practical and reflects situations encountered in interpreting and oral translation. Activities include project- and problem-based learning, role-playing, simulations and a learning portfolio. Participants will also have opportunities to review their own performance through video recordings and receive feedback from their peers.

The micro-credential is the first stage of a learning pathway that can be continued with the more advanced Communication Skills for Interpreters II programme.

More information about the micro-credential and registration is available here.
